Introduction


The majority of our users should be working from Windows 10-based devices as we offer only limited support for Apple devices. If you are in the position that you are using an Apple device, you may require access to your Live Desktop for specific applications and other systems. Use the below guide to access your Live Desktop via an Apple device.


Please be aware that ICT is unable to offer additional support surrounding Live Desktop and other remote connections on Apple devices. A Windows 10-based device should be used where possible.


Live Desktop - How to Connect (Windows Devices)


Remote Desktop App


In order to connect to any remote connections on an Apple device, you may need to install the Microsoft Remote Desktop app. You may need to know your Apple ID and password to access the app store and download the application.


Please be aware that ICT is unable to offer assistance with personal Apple devices in regard to locating your ID and password. Additionally, the latest updates to iOS may have prevented this app from functioning at all.


  • Navigate to the Apple App Store


       


  • Search for the Microsoft Remote Desktop app
  • Click on Get to install the app using your credentials to sign in if prompted


         


  • Open the app once installed
    • It may have been added to your Launch Pad at the bottom of the screen
  • You can also add this to your dock


       



Connecting to Live Desktop


  • In the app, click the Remote Resources option


       


  • Enter the following details as shown in the example below:


URL https://cloud.colchester.gov.uk/RDWeb/Feed/webfeed.aspx
User name Your full email address
Password Your account password

  • Click the Refresh button
  • Your resources should now load and report as "Successfully loaded Remote Resources"
  • Once returned to the Options screen, you should be able to see something similar to the below when clicking the refresh arrow next to Remote Resources
  • Now try clicking on Live Desktop and wait for a short while
  • You should see the below


       


  • When prompted on your smartphone associated with your work account, do one of the following
    • Tap Approve on the Microsoft Authenticator App
    • Answer the telephone call from Microsoft and tap hash-key on your dial pad
  • The following should then show


         


  • If prompted again, perform the above step again with your smartphone app or telephone call


       


  • You should now see the below remote connection to your Live Desktop.


         



Signing Out


Once you're finished for the day with your Live Desktop, it's vital that you sign out the correct way, otherwise this may cause issues with your session the next time you attempt to sign in or remote connect to it.


  • Click the Start Button
  • Click the icon which looks like a person as shown below


       


  • Click Sign Out



This should fully sign you out of your Live Desktop and the Wyse Terminal will shut down.
