Introduction
If you have lost access to a mapped drive through File Explorer, you can get these back with just a few clicks if you know the file path of the location you require access to. If you're unsure of the file path, the below list may help in locating or narrowing down where you're attempting to access it. If you haven't previously had access, you may need to raise a call via the ICT Portal to have access provided.
Please be aware that mapped drives can only be accessed via your Live Desktop in Cloud Apps and not on your standard laptop or desktop.
Adding the Drive
- If you're not already, remote connect to your Live Desktop
- You can do this using the guide here
- Open File Explorer
- Expand This PC to show your folders and files
- Right-click on This PC
- Click on Map Network Drive
- Type in the file pathreferenced in the introduction to this article
- If you're unsure what the drive path is, you can look it up using the shared drives list or by asking a colleague
- Select the drive letteryou wish to associate with the drive
- be sure to choose one not in use already
- Select the option to Reconnect at Sign-In
- Click on Finish
After a few seconds, your drive should have been added in File Exploer down the left-hand side as shown in the below example.
