Introduction
If you're using one of the new laptops provided by CBC for remote working and you're unable to access a networked site, you can use the below steps to access them without the need to go into your Live Desktop. This keeps everything simple and on one system. Additionally, you can request that a particular site or software package be made available via your Cloud apps by raising a service request via the ICT Portal. This will also help us improve the system and make applications more easily accessible to you in the future.
Network links will have something similar to the following in the URL address
http://cbc2012auto01
Open a Browser via Cloud Apps
The same place you would go to sign in to your Live Desktop and access various other applications now has a folder named Connect.
- Click on the Cloud Apps icon on the desktop and enter your username (email address) and password if prompted
- Click on the Connect Folder
- Open up either an Internet Explorer or Chrome browser, depending on which either best suits you or works best with the site you're accessing
- Enter or copy and paste the URL address you need to access, an example being http://cbc2012auto01/Tran_Rev
- If the URL address is on your live desktop and you're not sure of the exact address, you into your Live Desktop and email it to yourself
- If the URL address is on your live desktop and you're not sure of the exact address, you into your Live Desktop and email it to yourself
Additional Info
Be aware that you won't be able to create a normal desktop shortcut link to access these sites as you must go through Cloud Apps. As mentioned at the start of the article, you can request that some links be added to Cloud Apps directly to cut out the tedious copy and paste method to make things easier. Requests will be reviewed by technical and add to Cloud Apps if approved.
