So whether you’ve just created a new calendar, or you’re working with an existing SharePoint calendar, the next step is to connect it to Outlook so that you can have quicker and easier access. Now of course this step requires that you do have Microsoft Outlook 2013 installed on your computer.

  1. In SharePoint, click on your calendar from the main left-hand menu to see the full calendar view
  2. From the tabs along the very top-left, click on the word “Calendar” to open up the full menu bar.
  3. About two thirds of the way across the calendar menu bar, click on the button called “Connect to Outlook”.
  4. Depending on which web browser you’re using you may get a confirmation box appear – Click to continue, or launch application.
  5. Next Outlook will pop up with a messaging asking you to confirm that you want to connect to this SharePoint Calendar. Click on “Yes”.

What you will now see is that your SharePoint calendar will appear in Outlook, right alongside your normal Outlook calendar. Depending on how you like to view your Outlook calendars you can either leave it there as a separate pane, or use the ‘Overlay’ feature to have all of your calendars appear overlaid on top of each other (this is how I do it).
