Introduction

If you need access to the Internet and you currently have no access to Wifi at either work or even home, you can use the following to tether your work phone's Internet allowing you to use it as a hotspot to access the Internet on other devices. Use the following guide to do so.

This is for HTC Desire 530 devices and those running a similar version of the Android OS. This will likely be very different for modern handsets.

Tethering

  • From the Home screen, tap and then find and tap Settings
  • Under Wireless & Networks, tap More

Tap Mobile network sharing and then Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot

If this is the first time using your mobile as a hotspot, you may need to set some initial settings.

  • Enter a name for your Hotspot or use the default
  • Type in a unique password to prevent others from accessing it

  • Tap the Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot On/Off switch to turn it on
  • Now connect your laptop or tablet to the new WiFi network you just created using the password you set

HTC Desire 530 is ready to be used as a Wi-Fi hotspot when you see on the status bar.
